Near the middle of April I had the strongest urge to start painting. Slvstr of Rare Panther, VeranoXO, and Distortedd were doing great work which really inspired me. Thoughts were circling through my head, but I couldn’t filter any ideas through so I went to twitter to get a concept. I tweeted out that I was struggling with finding an idea for my first painting and if anyone had any ideas for me. Two of my friends responded to my tweet. One tweeted that I should paint the universe and another one of my friends tweeted me “Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog” painted in 1818 by a key artist of the Romanticism Era, Casper David Friedrich.
The astronaut is green because I get a sense of determination and desire from that color. We all have a passion and I feel that everyone has a green astronaut inside their brain steering them in the direction of that thing they desire the most. The astronaut is standing in-between two pink moon rocks or they can be interpreted as the left brain and the right brain. Within the right brain, which is the side of the brain that is highly creative and emotional, dwells this mysterious creature called Doubt. The size of this creature varies among individuals, but no matter how determined and driven someone can be, there will be people that awaken doubt in our minds. They will say things like, “That’s not possible” or shit like “Just stick with what you know.” Its up to us whether or not we give doubt power to consume our creative thinking as we quest for what we want most from life. Lastly, the star at the top of the painting represents the life we wish to live. Something that is so far, but so close at the same time. The star is that new job you been applying for. The star is the pair of shoes you’ve been cutting grass all summer to afford. The star is the girl/guy you really would love to talk to but too nervous to even make eye contact with. The star is inside all of our minds. Some people have already reached the star. Some may be still trekking towards the star. I am.
